When pcAnywhere is installed on a computer with the Matrox Millennium P690 PCIe Grfx card features in the Matrox PowerDesk software will not be able to be used with out the PowerDesk software crashing.
When making a resolution change or manipulating the mirror, clone or single display settings using the PowerDesk software the video will be downgraded to VGA mode until the computer is rebooted.
It has been determined that the AW_Host file and the PowerDesk software are in conflict with one another.
The AW_Host can be disabled by making the following registry change.
Disclaimer: Symantec ALWAYS recommends backing up any files or folders, especially the Windows Registry before making ANY changes.
- Click on Start > Run. On the open line, type regedit.
- Click OK.
- Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AW_HOST
- Change "start" key to 4 (This disables the driver from system load)
- Save changes and reboot.
These potential issues that exist from disabling this driver are as follows:
- Screen blanking will no longer function
- remote printing will no longer function
