GENERAL ERROR: UX:vxfs fsck.vxfs: error: v-3-20276: cannot stat /dev/vx/dsk/disk_group/volume

Error

During boot up the vxvm volumes fail to mount and instead you get errors at the command line reporting a failure to mount the volume:
UX:vxfs fsck.vxfs: ERROR: V-3-20276: cannot stat /dev/vx/dsk/disk_group/volume

Solution

Login with the root password and edit the /etc/fstab and make sure to comment out any vxvm volumes that are in the fstab and then reboot the system.

Volumes may need to be manually started. The administrator may have to do the following tasks:

1. Manually import the diskgroups.

2. Manually start each volume with vxvol.
