MountV fails to online with Errors: "V-16-50-0 Specified path (X:\) does not exist" OR "VCS WARNING V-16-10051-9020 MountV::online: is not suitable for folder mount [8:306]"

When bringing a MountV resource online, the resource faults and errors may be is recorded in MountV_A.txt.   


Error



V-16-50-0 Specified path (X:\) does not exist

OR

VCS WARNING V-16-10051-9020 MountV:<resource_name>:online:<path> is not suitable for folder mount [8:306]


Cause



For Error: V-16-50-0 Specified path (X:\) does not exist

This error most commonly occurs when a volume is being mounted to a folder, but the folder is either not present or is not empty.


For Error: VCS WARNING V-16-10051-9020 MountV:<resource_name>:online:<path> is not suitable for folder mount [8:306]

In the error message the folder specified is not empty.  Volumes can only be mounted on folder mount points if the folder is empty.

The error 8:306 can be interpreted as follows:

8 refers to a storage related error code

306 means ERR_DIR_NOT_EMPTY    (that is Directory is not empty)


Solution



  1. Confirm that the path specified is present, at the time that the MountV resource is taken online.
  2. Verify that the folder is empty. Windows will not mount a volume to a folder that is not empty.
