When attempting to backup to or restore from a SATA connected RDX 1000 storage device the job fails with error.


Error



Backing up:

Error EBAB03F1: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Restore:

RDX drive not detected.


Cause



SATA connected RDX and other removable storage devices are not supported in the current builds of Backup Exec System Recovery or earlier builds of Symantec System Recovery. (This issue does NOT affect SATA -connected hard drives.)


Solution



This issue has been corrected in Symantec System Recovery 2011 Service Pack 1. Please use LiveUpdate or contact Symantec to obtain the latest service pack for Symantec System Recovery. If using BESR, use a USB connected RDX storage device.
