Technical Solution

When attempting to use the option to restore to an existing GEDC 2.2 installation, an error is received when attempting to connect to an external SQL db indicating that the GEDC database is invalid or not found. This process worked normally in GEDC 2.1, but no longer functions as expected.

Steps To Reproduce

1) Install GEDC 2.2; during installation, select an external SQL instance as the db location; verify that the db is created successfully

2) Remove the existing GEDC 2.2 Management Server installation

3) Reinstall the GEDC Management Server, choosing the "Restore" option and selecting the same SQL instance as chosen previously

Expected behavior: The connection is re-established and the db continues to be used as it was previously

Error "GuardianEdge Device Control database is invalid or not found".

This process also deletes the existing database entirely, another undesirable

Server 2003 sp2
