If an Event Console Discard Rule applies to a rule, and the rule has a task associated with it, the rule's alert is properly discarded but the task still executes.
- Monitor Solution for Servers 7.0.x
- Monitor Solution for Servers 7.1.x
The task still executes because it has its own separate Notification Server Event (NSE) file associated with it. The Event Console alert NSE is filtered by the Event Console's Discard Rule, but the e-mail task NSE is not effected. It is not assumed that because the alert is not wanted, action should not be taken as well.
This behavior is working by design. If the alert is completely unwanted, it is recommended to remove the rule from being monitored at the Monitor Policy level.
