An In-House build of the iOS Agent is reset and requires re-enrollment after device reboots

Running an In-House build of the iOS Mobile MGMT Agent on a test device; the device is enrolled to a Mobile Management Server and full management functionality is available.  However, if the iOS device is shut down and restarted, the next time the Mobile MGMT Agent is loaded, it prompts the user for enrollment again.

Cause



When the iOS Agent is build in Xcode, Xcode requires a developement certificate from Apple.  They can be configured with multiple features, including support for Apple's iCloud, and Data Protection.  However, these features are currently not supported in the Mobile Management Agent.


Solution



Install a new App ID and Provisioning Profile in Xcode.  Go to the Apple developer portal (http://developer.apple.com/) and create a new App ID, as existing ones cannot be modified. Then create a new Provisioning Profile, unselecting Data Protection and iCloud. Use this to build the Agent in Xcode.

Symantec is investigating how these settings can be supported in a future release of the iOS Agent.
