Issue

After upgrading to Symantec Messaging Gateway version 10.x, you can no longer access the web management console (GUI) with the HTTP error "403 - Forbidden  Your access to the requested page is forbidden" being reported.

Cause

On a previous version of the Symantec Messaging Gateway software, an IP/Subnet was added to the "Control Center Access" settings which has not migrated successfully to version 10, causing the Control Center to deny access to all hosts following the upgrade.

Solution

Run the following commands from the Admin shell (ssh) console of the Messaging Gateway to clear the "Control Center Access" settings:

delete bcchostacl

type "yes" to confirm the removal of IP access lists when prompted

You will then need to restart the Control Center service by running the command:

service controlcenter restart

Your access to the web management console (GUI) should now be restored.

When setting up a new list of IP's or Subnets to restrict web management console (GUI) access, please refer to the following article:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO53882

service mysql restart
