Issue



When installing a new license file on the Symantec Messaging Gateway, you receive the error message "cannot import license file. Ensure that the file is a valid, unzipped license file".

This error is seen in the following scenario:

- You are using Symantec Messaging Gateway version 9.0 or older.

- The license file being installed is a valid SLF license file (the file has been extracted from the original ZIP file that the license was contained in).

- You are accessing the Web GUI of the Symantec Messaging Gateway through the Symantec Protection Center (SPC).


Cause



Symantec Protection Center is only supported for use with Symantec Messaging Gateway version 9.5.0 and higher.

Solution



Please use a supported Web Browser to access and install the license file on the Symantec Messaging Gateway host.
