Apple VPP Codes Do Not Import Into the Mobile Library

Issue



When you add an Apple VPP Application to the Mobile Library, you are unable to successfully upload the VPP spreadsheet from Apple.  Although the upload provides no indication of error, the VPP codes never display in the Configuration Manager console.  In Symantec Mobile Management for SMP, the spreadsheet appears to be imported but the codes do not display in the "iOS Volume Purchased Program Apps" and "iOS VPP App Codes" reports.  In both situations, you are unable to install the application on a device and use the VPP redemption code.

 


Environment



Symantec Mobile Management for Configuration Manager 7.2 SP1

Symantec Mobile Management for Symantec Management Platform 7.2 SP2, SP3+


Cause



Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 SP1 may not be installed on the Symantec Management Platform server (SMM for SMP) or the Management Point Server (SMM for CM).

Also, the incorrect version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 SP1 may be installed.  The SMM ConfigMan 7.2 SP1 Installation Guide incorrectly advises that the 32-bit version is required. 

 


Solution



Install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 SP1 (64-bit version) on the Symantec Management Platform server (SMM for SMP) or the Management Point Server (SMM for CM).

Attempt to upload the spreadsheet into the Mobile Library iOS Commercial App item again.
