Symantec Mobile Management right-click menu greyed-out in console; actions unavailable

Technical Solution



In the Configuration Manager 2012 console, when you right-click an enrolled device, the Symantec Mobile Management menu is greyed-out.  You are unable to lock, wipe, reset passcode, etc.


You may find an error in the Application Event log similar to the following:

Symantec Mobile Management 7.5 for Microsoft Configuration Manager



This issue is caused by missing inventory classes in the console.


  1. Make sure you are an administrator on the system where the SCCM console is installed and you are an administrator in SCCM.   For Configuration Manager 2012, please install the console as a "Full Administrator".
  2. Follow the instructions for "Import Hardware Inventory Classes" found on page 48 of the Symantec Mobile Management for Configuration Manager Installation Guide.
