A Lotus Domino transaction log recovery may fail with status 12 if the restore of the logged Lotus Notes database was initiated from the NetBackup master server, or other remote host whose operating system is different from the client's (i.e., Unix vs. Windows), or if NetBackup is installed in different paths on either system.
00/00/00 00:00:00 AM: : Could not open progress file C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\logs\user_ops\user\logs\NBWIN001 for write.
00/00/00 00:00:00 AM: : EXIT STATUS 12: file open failed
The issue involves passing the progress log path to bprestore when switching from "Restore" to "Recovery." The restore phase of the job runs on the machine that initiates the job. The recovery phase always runs on the client. If the NetBackup installation path on the master server is the same as that of the client system, the master-initiated restore of a logged Lotus Notes database may result in a successful transaction log recovery. However, if the NetBackup installation path is different between the initiating host and the client, bprestore cannot locate the progress log and the recovery phase of the restore fails.
