Solution

The installer provided allows you to customize the installation path in which Symantec Mail Security for Domino will install. The program does require installation of the databases and some components within the IBM Domino setup and defined directories.

Windows Environment

Per our installation guide, page 15 - http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5369

In the Destination Location panel, do one of the following:
- To install the product in the default location, click Next.
- To install the product in a different location, click Browse, select the location of the installation folder, click OK, and then click Next.
The installation directory must end with \SMSDOM The panel only appears if you are performing a new installation or upgrading from version 4.0.

If you have multiple Lotus Domino partitions on the same server, do the following:
- In the Select Partitions panel, select the partitions that you want to protect with Mail Security.
- To select additional partitions, click Add Additional Partitions, and then in the Select data directory dialog box, type the partition path or browse directories to select a path, and then click OK.

AIX Environment

Per our installation guide, page 11 - http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5368

Within AIX, the installation script has parameters in which can be invoked to specify directory paths. The command line options are as follows:
-h  Displays the command-line syntax.

-p Specifies the full path to the Notes partition on which to install
Symantec Mail Security for Domino. You can specify multiple Notes
partitions. Separate partitions with commas.

-s Specifies the full path to the Symantec base directory that will
contain all of the Symantec Mail Security for Domino binary files.

The -s option cannot be used on its own. It is used only in
conjunction with the -p option.

-d Specifies that the Symantec Mail Security for Domino installation
process should use default settings.

You must specify the -d option if the avdefs group does not yet
exist else the installation fails.

The following is an example of an installation on two Notes partitions in the default
Symantec directory:

./install -p /notesdata1,/notesdata2 -d
