Unable to perform an Authoritative Restore of Active Directory after restoring an image from Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) / Symantec System Recovery (SSR)

Solution

An Authoritative Restore of Active Directory cannot be performed after restoring an image created with Backup Exec System Recovery/Symantec System Recovery. In order to perform an Authoritative Restore of Active Directory, a backup of the System State must be created with an application such as Backup Exec for Windows Servers (BEWS), NTBackup, or Windows Server Backup prior to recovery point creation. Authoritative Restores can potentially cause irreversible damage to Active Directory and caution is advised. Symantec also recommends contacting Microsoft for additional assistance if needed.
