In Deployment Solution 7.1 SP1 you can use IIS Web Server to store Images. HTTP Imaging supports capture/deploy/restore of Ghost and RapiDeploy images. Following are steps to configure IIS7.x and IIS6.x for HTTP Imaging support.
Steps to configure IIS7 on Windows 2008 R2
WebDAV publishing
Basic Authentication
Windows Authentication
Digest Authentication
File Name Extension: gho, MIME Type: application/octet-stream
File Name Extension: ghs, MIME Type: application/octet-stream
Imaging Support
Steps to Configure IIS6 on Windows 2003 Server
Extension: GHO, MIME type: Application/Octet-stream
Extension: GHS, MIME type: Application/Octet-stream
Extension: Img, MIME type: Application/Octet-stream
Extension: 001, MIME type: Application/Octet-stream
Extension: 002, MIME type: Application/Octet-stream and so on
Imaging Tool Support:
Both Ghost and Rdeploy supports IIS 6.x
This is a great article. We have just discovered though that in DS 7.5, if you do this on one of your package servers with the DSPS components, it doubles-up what we do, and breaks it. Translation, don't do it on your 7.5 site servers. It may still be applicable in 7.5 for NON site-servers to which you intend on capturing an image, just not on one of ours.
