How to Set Permission for a Synchronization Profile?

To set permission for a new synchronization profile, you must take the following steps:

STEP 1 Create the synchronization profile.

STEP 2 Clone the existing Barcode User role.

  1. In the Symantec Management Console, on the Settings menu, click Security > Account Management.
  2. In the left pane, click Roles.
  3. On the Roles page, in the predefined roles list, right-click Barcode User, and then click Clone.
  4. In the Clone Role dialog box, enter the name of the new role, and then click OK.

STEP 3 Edit the permissions of the new role so that it can access only the synchronization profiles that you want.

  1. On the Roles page, in the left pane, make sure that the new role is selected, and then in the right pane, click Show Security Role Manager Console.
  2. In the Security Role Manager, make sure that in the Role drop-down list, the new role is selected.
  3. In the View drop-down list, click Views.
  4. In the left pane, under Views, expand Barcode Solution folder, and then click the Synchronization Profiles folder.
  5. In the right pane, under Noninherited > System Permissions, check Read, and then click Save changes.
    After you click Refresh symbol on the toolbar, all profiles appear under Synchronization Profiles folder.
  6. In the left pane, under Views > Barcode Solution > Synchronization Profiles, click the synchronization profile that you want to make visible for this role.
  7. In the right pane, under Noninherited > System Permissions, check Read, and then click Save changes.
  8. In the left pane, under Views > Barcode Solution, click the Synchronization Profiles folder.
  9. In the right pane, under Noninherited > System Permissions, uncheck Read, and then click Save changes.
    After you click Refresh symbol on the toolbar, only the profiles that this role can view appear under Synchronization Profiles folder.
  10. Close the Security Role Manager.
