How to troubleshoot out of memory issues with Software Workspace Streaming

Purpose:

To localize all the troubleshooting, solutions, and workarounds for services crashing in the Software Workspace Streaming.

Introduction:

There has been lots of different fixes and configuration changes to address issues with JVM running out of memory or server to busy.

 

STE crashes:

The STE engine stops prematurely on the backend and you may see some events in the Application logs

The SWS Streamlet Engine service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1

time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000

milliseconds:

Restart the service.

Following article TECH230409 and increasing the heap size will help keep the STE service up.

NOTE: if you continue seeing the STE crashes you may have to keep setting the memory to a size that works for your environment.

 

FE crashes:

Streaming service crashes every X minutes/hours.

Following the article TECH231937 and turning off predictive learning will address this issue.

 

DA crashes:

The DA service crashes every X minutes/hours.

Check the version of the Adsinji.dll in the c:\Symantec\Workspace Streaming\common\bin. If the version number is blank or less than 7.6.0.1 then the adsijni.dll is the cause of these crashes and needs to be updated. Upgrading to the latest version of 7.6 has the latest version of this dll.

Following the article TECH233845 will help address some of the out memory crashes that happen with the DA service.
