Version 1 of ImageInvoker was originally an add-on I created for Altiris Deployment Server 6.9 (DS6.9). It served to accelerate Altiris on-boarding for DS6.9 customers by providing a simplified deployment portal in the Linux and WinPE automation environments. Within a few release cycles I was delighted to find it was helping Altiris deployments in environments varying from a few hundred nodes to over 100,000.
ImageInvoker was successful because the client portal enabled the Deployment Server imaging services to be consumed far more readily. Furthermore, it also massively reduced the training required by teams to leverage their DS6.9 infrastructure (it takes just a few minutes of training to use ImageInvoker vs days of training to be an Altiris Administrator). ImagInvoker empowered IT techs with the ability to deploy and redeploy computers without incurring the risks associated with direct console access.
When DS6.9 was transformed into Ghost Solute Suite, the combination of code uplift and feature requests was more than I alone could manage. I was therefore delighted to find the Windows deployment specialists, ENGL, were enthusiastic to take on the labour of making ImageInvoker 2 a reality.
Over the last couple of months, ENGL have completely recoded ImageInvoker. For the beta, we are already pretty close to having a parity match with version 1. Crucially, we have already have something that v1 didn’t have - full 64-bit WinPE support.
Once on the beta you’ll get a download link and license for ImageInvoker v2 and can get cracking.
