LiveUpdate Administrator: Product Selection Guide

This article provides guidance on which specific product sub components are appropriate for selection, as part of LiveUpdate Administrator (LUA) configuration.

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

Firstly, it should only ever be necessary to select "Symantec Endpoint Protection v12.1 English". You do not need to select for other languages and you can ignore the additional SEP 12.1 product catalog entry that mentions (BETA).

If you plan to have SEP clients connect directly to certain LUA distribution centers to retrieve content, it is only necessary to download the sub-components marked as "Needed for: Client" (their names will usually start with SEPC).

If you plan to have the Manager (SEPM) retrieve content from certain LUA distribution centers (with the intention that the Manager would then in turn provide that content to its manged SEP clients), it is only necessary to download the sub-components marked as "Needed for: Manager" (their names will usually start with SEPM).

I am sorry but I still have a little confusion with what exactly I need to download if I want my LiveUpdate Administrator to supply updates directly to SEP clients. 

If I have the following SEP clients in production:

12.1.2015.2015

12.1.4112.4156

12.1.5337.5000

What do I need to configure to download on my LUA?

Primary reason I am trying to be cautious of not over downloading is because I am working up against a limited bandwidth network.  So downloading more files from Symantec than I need will really impact my whole site.

Can this be updated? Would like to see what...if any...changes there are for RU5. Or at least a link to changes.

I find it quite annoying that we would have to check many different versions of RU's just to update SEP.  It also takes up a ton of space.

Please be aware that new definitions are needed for SEP 12.1 RU2.  The LUA 2.x server will need to be configured to download these definitions to update a 12.1 RU2 SEPM or SEP client.
