Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 on Windows 7

For the people having problems with Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 on Windows 7 please read the following:

 

If you are having dificulty installing Symantec AntiVirus on a Windows 7 PC or Laptop there are many things that could be effecting this:

 

Windows firewall, please make sure this is turned off during installation.

When about to open the installation setup file, please right click this and select run as administrator.

When installing and you a prompted to dissable windows defender, please do!

When installation finishes, please add Symantec AntiVirus as an exception.

Finaly, always run Live Update after installation.

 

If you are having trouble updating Symantec AntiVirus after already using it for a while, try the following:

 

This is for Windows 7 and Vista users only!

 

Click on the start button,

Click Controll Panel,

Click on Live Update,

At the top of the window that has just been displayed, please click on "Update Cache"

Increase the maximum space to store updates,

Then increase the current cache size,

Then click "Remove all files from cache"

 

Once this has been done right click computer and go into properties.

Perform a disk cleanup ensuring that all the check boxes are selected, and then restart the computer.

 

You should be able to update Symantec, if not you may need to consider a repair installation of the product.

FYI, SAV 10.2 does not support Windows 7. You will need to upgrade to SEP for protection on the Windows 7 OS.
