Wow, these 5 parts are really good help! What they lack is brief introduction. Overview of the document's purpose and high level steps for MDM install process. Like this:

Install process outline:

  1. Complete preinstall checklist
  2. Install WS 2008 R2
  3. Install SQL Server
  4. Download and install SIM
  5. ...

Anyway thank you again for sharing this. I am setting up the MDM for POC right now and will use this guide as primary source. Appreciate this big work you've done and time you've spent to make our lives easier.

Thank you for this POC! Very helpful!

You use SQL 2008 Express instead of regular SQL 2008 in your instruction.

The Symantec Instruction guide doesn't include Express as one of the options.
Any benefit of using paid version instead of Express? Or can we get by with the free version?

I would like to mention that this walkthough would not be possible without the great videos provided by Brian Fromm. You can find his first video here: Mobile Management 7.1 - Installation

If you install Server 2008 R2 SP1 you will not be able to install the MDM Profile on your iOS device once you have completed the installion of your POC environment. However, there is a fix. Once you have completed your set up do the following:

1. Open IIS.

2. Navigate to the IOSServices Virtual under Default Web Site.

3. Open the HTTP Response Headers Feature.

4. Remove all HTTP Response Headers listed.

5. Click Set Common Headers (top right), and then uncheck all options. Click OK.
