Green Circle is an Engineering & Consultancy organization providing total solutions in Environment, Health, Hygiene, Safety, Risk, and Quality Systems & Training. Currently we have around 125 employees. Green Circle works to bring to market an entire suite of report delivery, content delivery, geographical delivery, maps and soil reports. As a service provider, we have a geographically wide client reach. Our goal was to protect clients’ data across thousands of webpage hits. It was a tough challenge.
We have been using the traditional antivirus solutions (from a global brand). This traditional antivirus solution had blacklist approach. This protected us to a certain extent. However, some of the challenges that were faced on a daily basis ranged from Trojan, downloader, spyware, malware and information leakage both intentional and unintentional. Our traditional approach was almost useless as we were facing problems on a daily basis as well as losing our clients' trust.
After lot of consultation and market research, we chose the Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x, which allowed us to control all of our endpoints and the devices that were attached to those endpoints. It allows us to protect data from Zero Days threat. Network access control was boon.
When a virus comes out into the world, our tradition antivirus approach of a blacklist was very slow and ineffective. It took a lot of time to update, as a centralised update mechanism was non-existant. In addition, our legacy approach did not have any mechanism to detect zero-day threat.
Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x provided us with a stronger protection mechanism from Zero day threats. What's better than that, SEP 11.x gave us the ability to actually eliminate the vulnerability as they exist in our environment. With SEP 11.x we had an almost immediate ROI for all the products purchased from Symantec. In my opinion the blacklist approach protected us to some degree, but now we have 90+ coverage all different type of threat and viruses.
SEP 11.x also prevented us from installation of unwanted software and connection of unauthorized devices, mainly by our internal employees. Inplementation of Network Access Control brought compliance into the organisation.
All these was possible just because of Symantec's proactive, industry leading approach to the security landscape.
