In an effort to optimize our small business portfolio, Symantec has End of Life’d (EOL) Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1 as of May 4, 2015. We have automatically transitioned customers’ licenses to Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition on a 1:1 ratio.
With Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, customers will have the option to continue managing their endpoints on-premise or migrate to the cloud. By moving to the cloud, customers can take advantage of faster updates, fewer IT resources (no on-premise server needed) and availability anywhere (no need to be on site to check status or pull reports). Migrating SEP SBE to the cloud is easy, simply follow the instructions on our migration page. In addition, customers can try SEP SBE risk free for 60 days. For more information, visit: go.symantec.com/sbemigration
Please note, if you have Mac endpoints, you will need to continue to protect them with the on premise version of SEP SBE, as our cloud version does not yet support Mac.
Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition is also impacted by this End of Life announcement, since it contains Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1. Going forward the point products for Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition will be renewed individually.

I'm very confused and getting frustrated. Our company had 25 seats of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1. Per your instructions we upgraded to the cloud version of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (with no version number which is apparently a different product?). Our renewal is coming up - how do we renew? In the past we purchased a new boxed copy of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1 and used that license number because the cost was considerably less than renewing through Symantec. What are my options now?
Second question: am I to understand that the product that you receommended we migrate to (Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (with no version number) also has an EOL in 2 years? What product do you recommend we use for similar protection then?
I am getting very frustrated with Symantec. If small businesses no longer have a role in your business plan, please say so and I will look at other software packages.
Why in Gods name would Symantec call the new product the same as the old product and withdraw the version number, but essentially they are the same thing, and the versions seems to be remaining the same. It's just confusing with no benefit.
gotcha. yes, 12.1 is not end of life.
ok, I mean SEP 12.1, a ten user business pack.
Thanks
There is no 12.1 version 10.
There is 12.1 which is not end of life.
Hi,
I would like to confirm if Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 version 10 user is end of life. I have a copy of this software and am looking to sell it. Is it advisable to go ahead or not?
Any update on this? It's been 2 weeks since our systems have been exposed by this security flaw and I've not been able to get anyone to respond with a fix.
Looks like we'll be switching to a different vendor if this is the kind of support we can expect for our $$$.
Hello, we have SBE 12.1 and have extended our maintanance on February 9th for another 3 years, so that should make us eligeble for the new SBE (2013 version).
Last month Symantec released a critical security advisory for on-Premise manager and clients below version 12.1 RU6. SYM15-007
http://www.symantec.com/security_response/securityupdates/detail.jsp?fid=security_advisory&pvid=security_advisory&year=&suid=20150730_00
I have tried looking for the updates but there are none to be found and all of the support techs and sales people I spoke to keep insisting that the new version of SEP SBE, even though it states that it includes on-Premis and cloud options, has the same version of on-Premise manager as the old 12.1 as well as clients and that Symantec no longer provides updates for on-Premise portion, even though you guys sell it.
I can't believe that this could be true, given how serious this security flaw is as well as potential reprocusions from fradulent advertisement.

Please advise.
Thanks.
Just starting to renew my client base and guess what, it's now 3 times more expensive since splitting up the SBE edition. Shame on you Symantec.
You can still order renewal for Protection Suite Small Business Edition 4.0, Please contact your distributor again. There is some changes in last few weeks.
but you can order one year renewal only.
Hi
I have 200 licenses of Protection Suite Small Business Edition 4.0 to be renewed this month. How can I do if my distributor told me about the end of life of this product.
How can I renew it?
I've received my 3 new SEP SBE serial numbers (actually one for SEP SBE 2013, one for Symantec Mail Security for Exchange 7.5, and one for Symantec System Restore Desktop Edition).
The last two work, however the one for SEP SBE 2013 "does not exist" according to Symantec Fileconnect.
Is there something required for me to do on my end or am I just impatient?
Correct, SEP SBE has a cloud managed and on-prem version. There is an EOSL (end of support life) planned for SEP SBE (on prem only) for July 5, 2018. For more information, please feel free to reference our FAQ on the SEP SBE 12.1 EOL: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.DOC8217.html
Hi There,
Here are the answers to your questions. Additionally, you can visit our FAQ for more information: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.DOC8217.html
1) At this time there will not be a replacement small business suite. All products will be renewed individually.
2) There is no cost with the SKU upgrade to SEP SBE (on prem/cloud) for the remainder of the maintenence left on the previous license.
3) Since the mail security product in the suite is a licensed product (not subscription) you should be able to renew as usual.
Let us know if there is anything else we can help with.
Thanks!
Liz
So there is a cloud managed and an on-premises managed version of the new SEP SBE? Will the on-premesis managed continue to be an option in the future? I have a network without internet access that I upload virus defs manually that needs to remain on-premesis managed.
The link has been fixed. Thank you.
I have a 10 user license for the Symantec Protection Suite 12 currently. I want to understand what I get access to and what needs to be purchased to get the same protection as I currently have.
1) The Suite is discontinued almost immediately (July 4?) Is there any replacement suite available?
2) The Endpoint Protection component of the suite transitions to a standalone product, either "cloud managed" or on-premises managed. There is a transitional promotion to a subscription service with a higher per-user cost. Please confirm
3) The Mail Security component eligibility dies with the expiration of the current renewal and must be purchased as if I was a new user of that product - is that correct?
Hi Brian, I understand they gave the notice of that, however i am a bit unclear of what end of life means in their eyes because years ago when they ended the life of the old SAV antivirus i noticed on some computers SAV was stilll getting definition updates on computers that still had that version installed, however we did not get notice that the actual live updates would stop updating definitions. So i would like to know on what date will my 12.1.4 clients stop getting definition updates.
There was roughly a years notice on 11.x and 12.0
We are very upset with Symantec because several months ago, without sufficient warning, symantec was no longer live updating 12.0 and older. So we had to scramble to update a couple hundred servers and over a thousand workstations to 12.1.4 which took many Overtime hours.
Now, my question to you is regarding your end of life announcement regarding 12.1, exactly what does that mean for all the machines we just upgraded to 12.1.4 from 12.0?
Will live updates stop working for my version? if you know a date of when 12.1.4 will stop getting live update definitions, please let me know when this is happening? I need to make a decision whether we stay using SEP or migrate to another Endpoint provider.
thanks
Maz

Hello,
Do you know if version SEP SBE 12.1.6 will still be released or will all new builds be released under SEP SBE 2013?
We've been waiting for this release to address some missing table issues with SEPM 12.1.5 and it's embedded database.
Some customers were advised to roll back to the 12.1.4 release, or wait for 12.1.6 to address the issue.
Let me see if I can get you the help you need! I don't work on the encryption product, but let's see if we can find out who does. I will have them reach out to the contact details associated with your SymConnect account.
I dont know if im posting on the right place but I have an issue with Endpoint Encryption 7.3
I have forgotten my password. I remember the previous password but now Im unable to get into my machine and its now useless and has my entire life on there!
Is there any way I can rollback and log in with my previous password?
Ive tried calling Symantec customer support but they cant do anything without an account number etc.
I dont have an account as I was asked to install the software by my previous employer - Quinn Insurance - which has since been taken over - and I have no details of any accounts or contact number for IT etc.
please help if you can
