It has come to Symantec's attention that an OS X 10.7.3 update release is imminent from Apple.
Based on past experiences, we do NOT recommend users currently encrypted with PGP WDE or SEE FDE for Macs upgrade to OS X 10.7.3 when made available by Apple.
Symantec is actively testing PGP WDE and SEE FDE against the 10.7.3 developers build from Apple. We will continue testing against all developers code from Apple and also against the official release from Apple.
Please check this blog for updates as they become available.
There should be a zip within the zip... extract the PGPUniversal3.2.0MP4 (823.5 MB) and upload it exactly as it is. Upload it only after it has been extracted.
I am having issues uploading PUP file to the PGP universal server tried both the .zip file and the inner.zip file but get an error message: "The file you selected is not Universal Server update file..." I tried changing the extension to .pup and that failed too.
As a customer, I can also verify that MP4 is downloading ( on another machine) as we speak!
(Kelvin-thanks for being on top of this)
Literally, hot off the presses!
MP4 for PGP WDE is now available!
MP2 for SEE FDE is now available!
I had this verified by 2 different people via FileConnect.
Sorry for the delay everyone, but it's now officially available! Thanks for your patience.
still no access to MP4 :(
Kelvin,
Once again, thank you for the update.. I fully understand that mix-ups or miscommunications happen in large companies. You can only report what you're told.
All, First, I apologize for the delay.
I just dug into this a little bit more, and apparently there is a delay with uploading the latest MPs onto FileConnect. Currently, only MP3 (PGP version) and MP2 (SEE FDE version) are visiable within FileConnect (These MPs do NOT contain the fix).
I am trying to get an ETA on when the problem will be fixed and the latest MPs uploaded to FIleConnect. I'll post as soon as I get more information.
I have some additional information I got from Customer Service (CS). I was told that the patch was released on February 10, so I don't know who's correct on this point (see above). After checking with Tech Support (TS), the CS rep told me that it has not been posted to FileConnect yet. I was offered the opportunity to connect with TS to possibly get it now, but I declined.
I was then told to check FileConnect occasionally. It does appear, at least, that FileConnect is not "broken". It also seems that having a file/update/patch "released" does not always mean you can download it immediately from FileConnect.
Thank you for indicating either you're having a problem or the fact the file has not been posted. I don't feel quite so strongly anymore that I am in an alternate reality dealing with Symantec.
I was going to say something "smart", but I'll just say that with 30 years experience with PCs, trying to find anything on this site, or downloading files is the hardest of ANY site I have EVER be associated with. I never know what to think.
it's not on my fileconnect either.
If I am using FileConnect properly, I still can only D/L 10.2 MP3 as of 10:20 EST/7:20 PST. Is the update in fact available now? If so, I'll call customer support, as I seem to do for every upgrade.
All, Just wanted to update everyone. I have just gotten the confirmation from PM/Development that the MP for 10.7.3 compatibility will be available at 5PM PST today for download. You can download this binary via FileConnect.
Once updated with this MP, you can then upgrade your OS X to 10.7.3 while encrypted without any issues.
For those of you using PGP WDE for Mac OS X, you will be downloading and installing 10.2 MP4.
For those of you using SEE FDE for Mac OS X, you will be downloading and installing 8.2 MP2.
I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we were readying the fix and QA'ing it. As always, whenever there is a new Mac OS X update, please check the forums, blogs, KBs first! We are trying to be as proactive as possible to keep everyone informed.
Thanks! -kelvin
All, Just a quick update. I have been informed that the MP (with the 10.7.3 compatiability fix) will now be available on Tuesday Feb 14. Once available, you should be able to download it via FIleConnect.
As always, if I receive new information, I'll let everyone know.
Thanks for your patience!
Halfway to the 10th from when you posted that on the 3rd. Does the 10th still look like it will happen?
TNolander, glad it worked out for you.
The latest information I have indicates that a MP will be available on Friday Feb 10. You should be able to download the MP on FileConnect once available.
If anything should change, I'll be sure to update everyone.
Thanks for your patience.
Hi Everyone, Sorry about the delayed response. I expect an update shortly. (Definately not months. I would say "days" as a best guess estimate on my part.) I know that engineering has been working on it actively. I also know that they have a fix for the issue. However, they are also putting it through the full QA cycle as well.
I'll update this blog shortly as soon as I get more information.
@rreese, unfortunately, there's no current way I know of that Symantec can notify you. Trust me, I've looked into this, and have been told there is a strict corporate policy in "spamming" customers/users. The best I can suggest is to check the blogs/forums from Symantec. I have been trying to be as pro-active as possible with putting information out as soon as I find out so the community is aware.

Since I do not keep up with the blog, is there a way to receive notifications for such information? I updated my MBP yesterday and broke the boot sequence. [Un]luckily, this has happened to us plenty of times with previous updates, so we knew how to fix the boot.efi issue in a few minutes.
What's the ETA for a PGP update to work with 10.7.3? Are we talking months or weeks?
I knew about the warning, but I had a spare extra backup so I thought I see what would happen. I was curious if Symantec was being cautious, or if this would totally tank the drive, as several past OS X updates have.
Yes, it WILL trash the ability to boot the drive, and for me at least, it appears that no data can be seen when trying to view the drive on a good, non-updated (10.7.2) drive, in my case my desktop.
This is no big deal, as this was a spare backup I was playing with, but FWIW, Kelvin is absolutely right; do NOT update any drive to 10.7.3 you really need until the MP4 update to WDE for Mac is released.
(And thank you Symantec for giving us a heads-up about waiting for the update ahead of the .3 release)
