Symantec is at it again. We have been named as a “Leader” in another key analyst report. This time, Symantec has been positioned in the “Leader” wave in The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Client Management Suites, Q2 2012. This, along with our “Leader” position in the recent 2012 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Client Management Tools, further underscores Symantec’s unique global leadership in the endpoint management space.

The Forrester Wave report states that Symantec made a significant splash in this Wave, earning a position as a Leader with long-established strengths in core and extended client management functionality — particularly OS management, software management, and patch.

“Symantec was early in integrating mobile device management for iOS and Android to the Altiris Platform, using technology based on the recently acquired Odyssey Software. Other standout capabilities include security policy compliance automation, excellent and well-integrated analytics-based reporting from OEM-level partner Bay Dynamics, and an embedded graphical workflow engine for advanced automation. The solution also enjoys a large installed base and development partner ecosystem.”

“The era of the Windows PC as the only personal computing tool for workers, and as a company-owned private island populated with native applications, is over,” notes the Forrester Wave report, which positions vendors based on product fit, customer success and Forrester client demand. “The new reality of workforce computing is a rich and diverse mix of Windows PCs, Macs, tablets, hosted virtual desktops, local virtual desktops and virtualized application delivery models. Businesses are forcing I&O professionals responsible for workforce computing to quickly adapt to highly disruptive new demands and changes in the technology landscape — and I&O pros are looking past incumbent vendors whose tools can’t help them manage the diversity that the business demands.”

Symantec has consistently enhanced its endpoint management portfolio to address the challenges of client management as a result of the consumerization of IT, complex IT infrastructures and virtualized environments. Altiris Client Management Suite from Symantec – the solution included in the evaluation for the Forrester Wave – allows our customers to manage their assets with greater efficiencies and drive down costs across a broad range of desktops, virtual infrastructures and mobile devices through integration with Symantec Mobile Management and through application streaming and virtualization with Symantec Workspace Streaming.

Client Management Suite manages, secures and troubleshoots systems with greater efficiency on more platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux and virtual desktop environments. The combination of complete life cycle functionality built on an integrated infrastructure enables organizations to gain and maintain control of their entire IT environment, including mobile devices. This also allows organizations to easily extend their functionality into other areas, such as mobile security, asset management, license compliance or service management.

We believe our position as a leader in the Forrester Wave report for Enterprise Client Management Suites is well deserved and confirms Symantec’s vision, focus and enduring commitment to stand as a partner and trusted advisor in managing, securing and troubleshooting our customers systems. Not only is our current offering strong, but our long-term vision is clearly validated as well.
