Remote Control for Deployment Solution in version 7

Jan 20, 2011 10:58 AM

At the end of the last Twin Cities User Group Meeting, a few of us chatted about the options of remote control if we just own Deployment Solution and not the Suite. We know that Symantec is moving to PC Anywhere and it was our understanding that PCA was included with the Suite.

A Symantec Product Manager was kind enough to email me that as of April 2011, they will modify Deployment Solution to include PCA Solution at no extra charge. This applies if you are current on your DS Maintenance.

They did not want customers to feel they were "losing" features by each upgrade and wanted to assure us they are listening to their customers.

In Farmington Schools, we use NS (the free version) and Deployment Solution stand alone. This is great news!

Indeed, that is a good news. In Europe we were also defending this point to Symantec.

Thanks to Symantec for taking care this.

here the memo I receive from Symantec.

Remote Control to Return to Deployment Solution for Clients

In April 2011, a new product call Deployment Solution for Clients with Remote 7.1 will replace Deployment Solution for Clients. There is only one significant change in that pcAnywhere Solution with be bundled with Deployment Solution to provide customers with remote control capabilities similar to what is in Deployment Solution for Clients 6.9. Be aware that the pcAnywhere Gateway Access Server will not be included, but continues to be bundled in the standalone pcAnywhere Solution and Client Management Suite.
