Windows Workstation Monitor Pack (Agent-based) Fault Alerts Only includes SEP Client and PCA Monitor Pack

Nov 10, 2009 03:21 PM

Hello All,

This Monitor Pack includes the following:

Windows Desktop Monitor Policy (Agent-based) Fault Alerts Only
SEP Monitor Policy (Agent-based)
pcAnywhere Monitor Policy (Agent-based)

and

All Desktop Agent Settings (Configuration Settings for Desktops)

The Monitor Pack Monitors the following:

Disk Drive Alert
System Errors
System Errors due to Serious Failure normally resulting in Dump File creation (you could create a Task that will collect the Dump and place into central Share for troubleshooting)
Application Error
System Disk Error due to Delayed Write Failure
Windows Services Status for (Crypto, DHCP, DNS, Network Connections, Plug and Play, Print Spooler, RPC and Workstation)

To Install the Monitor Plug-in onto Desktop Computers you will need to include the following param into the MSI which is "NOWINDOWSCHECK".  Please note there is an issue with using the rollout policy with this which is due to be resolved in a upcoming release of Monitor Solution.  Lastely there is a known issue with installing the Monitor Plug-in onto a machine where the application metering plug-in is installed, "Altiris_MonitorAgentPackages_7_0_x86.exe" will be in processes running which will need to be killed manually, this issue is also to be addressed in a future release.  Both os these items will have related KB Articles.

I hope you find this Monitor Pack for Windows Desktops helpfull.

Hi Desmond,

have you check via Real-Time Performance Viewer that you can see the Metrics being returned?  Which alert is not being triggered?

I have the same policy working in my environment.

Kind Regards,

I tired your policy on Windows 7. It seen like not capturing any alert.

My current version NS is running on SP5 and my client machine is installed with Monitor agent with NOWINDOWSCHECK. Import the monitor pack for workstation and add in a monitor policy to check on Windows Services.  Still no alert.

Hi All,

This Monitor Pack for Workstations has been updated and includes Workstation Configuration Policy.

It is the same as any other custom monitor pack.  The license for Monitor Pack for Servers unlocks the Monitor Solution Core to provide the ability to create custom Monitor Packs.  If you are a TMS customer you could use these on any of the managed machines.

Hi Joseph,

How is this Monitor Pack licensed?

If you got TMS can you then use it on your desktops (where you have CMS licenses due to TMS)?

Kind regards, Glenn
