Can the default directory where the RPM’s are installed be changed or does it have to be under /opt/Symantec? I tried the –prefix option and for some RPM’s it said they were not relocatable. Can the default logs directory be changed or do all of them go under either /var/Symantec or /var/log/Symantec? Seems weird that in the silent mode install option there are the parameters to fill in to put the install location choice if it is not able to install in any other location than /opt/Symantec and /var/Symantec.

Not sure wat RPM's you are talking about.. the Linux System RPM's (libc etc) are going to be installed where they need to be by the Linux OS.

As far as the installation of the DLP SW.. the only option is to run the ./ProtectInstaller64_15.0.sh with the '-c' option for NO graphical interface installations.

You should be able to then install the files where you want ither than /opt/SsymantecDLP

If you want to install logs etc in a different place you can put them where you want amd use Symbolic lonks to connect them to the directories that you like

Though in most Linux Environments the logs should be in the var directory.

Again you can use symbolic links to have them be somewhere else.

    Good Luck,

    Hi Zhinsdale,

I have been playing with 15.1 for a few weeks now on various O/s's and it seems to be that on Linux they can only go in one place which is where the RPM extraction puts them.

I think the whole 15.1 setup is a little weird especially now that you have to actually install the JRE prior to any other service.

@DLP Solutions 2, 15.1 has changed from v15 in how it is setup. in Linux you get various RPM's to install depending on which service you're using the server for.

Hope this helps answer your question.

    Thanks

You can relocate the rpm install default with rpm -ivh --relocate command.  The newest version of the DLP v15.1 upgrader guide for Linux has the syntax of this command.  We had the same issue; we do not install into /opt but a custom file system.
