  • 1.  3 Hour wait time on Support?

    What the heck is going on with Support?  I have a critical case and I am still waiting on the phone at 3 hours?  I have a system that is trying to do IRC over port 80 using explorer.exe as a proxy.  I have tried to submit samples to BCS Security Center but it keeps spitting it back at me saying that the files are clean.

    Seriously, if you have such a high voluem of callers, the you need to do something about it!  this is the third time this week I have tried to get through to support and had to wait this long.  I understand that people are dealing withthe HydraQ issue, but seriously...come on!

    I have noticed similar things last week and this week.  I have a dedicated support rep who has not responded in days.  I figured he must be swamped, so for a different problem I decided to go the route of opening a ticket with tech support.  That was two days ago and the ticket has not been touched yet.   Maybe its just me but I've also detected an uptick in the number of new issues here on the forums lately.  I wonder whats going on all of sudden ??

    I had a look at your comment about talking to IP "64.120..... and 65.55...... "

    65.55. belong to Microsoft hence I doubt its an issue. Maybe one of your plugins phones home.
    64.120. is rather interesting as it is a known C&C IP.

    imo best to run Process Explorer and see what DLL or maybe EXE loaded a long with Explorer.exe.
    as the files you have sent in so far are known clean files.

    Alternatively you can open a support ticket at https://mysupport.symantec.com and attach a Loadpoint log there.

    This is an even worse idea if tech support is swamped.  See this

    You would be queued behind the people who hang on the phone.
