    I am currenly using BartPE with the 32-bit editions of Ghost32.exe v11.0.0.1502 and ghostwalker.exe v11.0.0.1502.  The OS environment is BartPE using Windows XP SP2.   BartPE is run from a USB drive formatted FAT32.

    Ghost32.exe works great, and is scripted with no problems.

    Ghostwalker, however, has an issue when scripted.  Here is the original script that I used: ""X:\Programs\ghost11\ghstwalk.exe" /BV=1:1 /CN="TEST<RANDOM_NUMERIC>" /sure"  When it finds the local C: drive with "/BV=1:1", it adds an additional drive which happens to be the USB with BartPE.  When it attempts to update the SID, it hits an error "Unable to lock hard drive(s) for update - update not performed." because of the USB drive.

    I noticed there is a switch for qhostwalker that sets additional volumes, "/AV".  Without this switch, Ghostwalker appears to assume that all additional volumes should be included.  I have tried using that switch as "/AV=1:1" pointing only to the C: drive specifying I don't want the USB drive, at "2:1", as an additional volume, but that does not work since the boot volume is already pointed to at "/BV=1:1".  Thus, it reverts to adding all additional volumes and I get the same error since it added the USB drive.

    I would like to set up the "/AV" switch to say that I want no additional volumes.  The help manual only specifies "/AV=%$drv>: part>" or "/AV=ALL".

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,

    I think we have reproduced your problem.  We found that, when a disk has more than one file systems, and when ghwalk32 changes the system's SID and name, it is not only changing on boot volume and also on addition volumes as well, so you have to specify on both volumes in the command line, for your case, your command line should like this:

    "X:\Programs\ghost11\ghwalk32 /BV=1:1 /AV=1:2 /CN="TEST<RANDOM_NUMERIC>" /sure"

    (You should run "ghwalk32" first to find out what the volume are in the target disk)

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers

    Ming

    Thank you for looking into that.  However, our image only has one volume.  I did test it to add a secondary blank volume and added /AV=1:2 and it worked, however, it would be preferrable to not have to create secondary volumes just for the sake of Ghostwalker.

    Thanks for looking into it.

    Hi,

    There is working around via ghwalk32’s GUI:

     -  run ghwalk32.exe and get into the GUI window;

     -  after confirm to continue, select "V"- Change Addit'l Vols<s>;

     -  select "C – Clear” ( that will clear additional partition info in the Additional Volumes panel), then click Enter;

     -  then select "N - Change Name”, give a new computer name, click Enter;

     -  click "Enter – Update”, then "Y", to confirm;

     -  then your computer name should be changed.

    I also have reproduced your problem - 1 volume with "/BV=1:1" parameter doesn't work and have already sent a question to the developer. He said he will look into it on Monday. I will let you know when we find out more.

    Cheers

    I am wonderfully amazed at the time you put into this question.  Thank you so much!

    Your work-around worked well.  And hopefully your message to the developer will help them look into programming a switch that will fix this issue.

    Thanks a million

    Hi,

    It is glad to hear the work-around worked for you, and thanks for your good comment :)

    I have got a feedback from the developer - he has looked through the code, he said there is no work-around via command line, so we might consider to add a new switch in future, something like "/AV=null".

    Thanks for reporting this problem.

    Cheers
