    Hi,

A client using my server for emails is having issues sending emails to a client using your service. The errors are:

host cluster5a.us.messagelabs.com [216.82.251.230] SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<esteban.liendo@bmrn.com>:

421 Service Temporarily Unavailable: retry timeout exceeded

Can you see if our IP or their ISP IP has been temporarily blacklisted or why their emails are not getting through please??
    server address is 69.175.89.226.

    Sender IP: 181.29.33.164

If it is temporary like your error sugests how long will it take to heal itself?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice it would be much appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Manrique

    Hello Manrique

I've checked the IP you provided and this does not appear to be being throttled by our service which is what this error usually indicates.

After checking I have found that the IP 181.29.33.164 is listed in the PBL blocklist which will cause issues so it will need to be delisted from here. See the link below.

    Hello Ian

Thank you for your time and explanation.

I'll request Spamhaus to delist the IP.

    Regards,

    Hello Ian,

I filled the Spamhaus form but they never sent me the verification mail.

The url that you sent me shows:

    Ref: PBL1519821

181.28.0.0/14 is listed on the Policy Block List (PBL)

If this means that a really large block of  262142  IPs that belongs to their ISP, and probably many other ISPs, are the one listed in PBL and that the IP they assign to my client is just one of that pool I don´t think PBL is going to delist the whole block just to delist their IP. On the other hand, so massive listings makes me think if, due to the necesary high false possitive rate involved, they have any use to separate legitimate mails from spam.

As yours is the only service our client is having problems with so far, is there anything you can do to help us from your side (like to exclude our IP from that filter or.putting it into a whitelist)?

Again, thank you for yor time and advise.

    Regards,

    Manrique

    Hi Manrique

Please note that we are not in a position to whitelist an IP address as doing so means this would then be able to bypass all of our spam scanning technologies and this is not something that we will allow.

The Spahhaus PBL is however a trusted and legitimate list that we have used for a long time. It does allow for delistings of IPs so in this case if yours is just one IP in the range of IPs in the list it will allow you to request that delisting of a single IP within a range via the link below.

The below is direct copy and paste from the Spamhaus PBL.

    Removal Procedure

If you are not using normal email software but instead are running a mail server and you are the owner of a Static IP address in the range 181.28.0.0/14 and you have a legitimate reason for operating a mail server on this IP, you can automatically remove (suppress) your static IP address from the PBL database.
