  • 1.  Added driver to GBW but Console doesn't see them?

I'm trying to add Intel's 82567LM driver and I've added the driver via Ghost Boot Wizard and then refreshed the WinPE drivers. It seems to load the driver fine in the GBW but when I go into the Console and try selecting that driver for a client it isn't listed?

The drivers list in the intel2.jpg is the list of all the Dos drivers that you have to choose from.

When you add a driver to one of the windows pe packages winpe512 in this case then all you have to do is select that version for the preos and all the drivers in it are loaded.  It isn't like the old Dos that only loaded one driver at a time.

Some thing that I have found is that the client does not update the copy on the client side after adding a driver and that I had to do these steps to get it to work.

Add the driver to the windows pe in ght GBW

In the console under the properties for the client I had to change to pcdos as the preOS

Then I ran a configuration task so that it would force the update to pcdos files thus clearing out the outdated windows pe.

Then under the properties for the client I would change it back to using windows pe as the preos.

Now the new windows pe will have to be copied to the client rather than using the old stale copy that was already there.

Hope this works for you and hopefully if this is a bug they will get it fixed soon.

I got everything except for this part. What exactly do you mean that the new WinPE will have to be copied to the client?

    Thanks for the help

When you run a task on a PC, notice it updates the files first thing? That may be what he's talking about.

Myself I wouldn't worry about picking out a driver for WinPE, just let WinPE do it's own thing always worked for me.

Also a couple simple things. What happens when you simply try to kick off the task anyway? Have you restarted the console since the update? When you updated GBW, it is the same PC that the console is on, right? Have you checked the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Ghost\Template for the driver folder? Have you checked all of the manifest text files for anything out of the ordinary?

My problem I was having was that when I tried to run a task (clone in this case) on our HP 8730w laptop, it would fail. The errors were that it was missing the Network driver.

Once I got the correct driver added to WinPE, it worked fine. I just figured it was the wrong network driver I had selected under the clients "Network settings when using virtual partition" section because it was using the Universal Packet driver.
