  • 1.  Additional SEPM Costs?

    Posted Dec 16, 2015 10:47 AM

    Hi,

Firstly this is a non-technical question but could not locate the answer trolling through the forums.

Currently I have two SEPM's in my organisation replicating the same embedded database. Due to expansion I'm now wanting to add a further two SEPM's to make four replication partners. I understand from a techical perspective this is feasibly however, is there any additional cost to my organisation? My instinct tells me there isn't any extra costs involved but I just wanted to ask the question to be sure.

    Thank you in advance.

No , it does not cost.

SEPM is free you need to purshase additional license for SEP only

    icense coverage: sites and domains

A Symantec Endpoint Protection product license is applied to an entire installation regardless of the number of replicated sites or domains that compose the installation. For instance, a license for 100 seats covers a two-site installation where each site has 50 seats.

If you have not implemented replication, you may deploy the same .slf file to multiple Symantec Endpoint Protection management servers. The number of clients reporting to your management servers must not exceed the total number of licensed seats

No additional cost. Just make sure you don't go over your license count on the clients. Otherwise you're good.

    Hello,

No Cost for setting up new SEPM (no new license required).

No cost for Sybase (Embedded) database.

Embedded database can support up to 5,000 users for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

However, unfortunately in replication - "If you use an embedded database, you can only connect one Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager"

    Check this Article:

    How replication works

    https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO81035.html

In other words, you would have to get SQL in your environment for adding more SEPM as replication partners which would be a cost to you.

    Regards,

No additionl cost you just need to  ensure the number of seats in your license file cover the number of SEP clients managed by all SEPMs

    Refer the following article

Can a single license be split between multiple separate Symantec Endpoint Protection Managers?
