    Hey,

I was wondering, does anyone know of any way to add a randomization window to Administrator-defined scans?

As all of my servers are hosted within VMware, I don't want them all getting AV scanned at exactly the same time.

I couldn't see an obvious option to allow me to do this.

The only solution I could think of was to put the machines into different groups with different scan times. Not ideal though.

    Thanks.

You have a very good point here.. You can put this in the IDeas so that this can be taken up in the next relaese. As of now the only solution for you is to put the server in different group.

Not an ideal solution but, you can turn off the san altogether that is initiated by Symantec.
Create a Schedules Task that would run on the machines, ensuring proper intervals without the need of having multiple servers in multiple groups.  It would allow for the distribution of updates to all servers in the same way.
Only problem would be running the Task, as you say, at pre-determined times...

I know it's not ideal, but maybe a possible work-around in the interim....

additional workaround but also not an ideal you can manually set your prefered schedule scan on the SEP client interface.

I'll go down the route of making multiple groups for now, I just have to hope that a bunch of VMs in the same AV scan group don't get V-Motioned across to the same esx host! :)

I'll submit as an idea and maybe we'll see this in a future release.

    Thanks for your help guys.
