  • 1.  After inactivity, Desktop will not load

I have a Windows 7 PC, that has Symantec DLP 12.5.3105.1001, that after a period of inactivity, the machine will accept the user authentication, but will not load the desktop. The authentication is accepted, but then the screen turns black. In rare cases, you can invoke task manger and kill/restart explorer.exe, but more often than not, the machine has to be power cycled. Once its power cycled, the unit will function properly, as long as the user is sitting at it, and actively using it, but if inactive for an extended period, exhibits the symtoms above. DLP has been proven to be the cause, not sure what's causing DLP to cause it. The machine has been replacede numerous times, with different models of PC, but the issue persists

    hello

as far as i understand this happens only for one user whatever PC he is using ?

As you said DLP is the cause of this issue, Do you have any specific policy apply to this user (or group of user) which could lead to some huge DLP activity consuming all ressources on PC ? Did you configure a scan of this PC when user is inactive ?

"Black screen" usually is due to PC doing lot of CPU usage and/or disk access so it become slow (even very very slow) to load desktop.
