  • 1.  Altiris 7.1 Adding Drivers for New Systems to Boot into PXE

    Hello All,

We have 3 new systems that I’d like to get their drivers added to our Altiris 7.1 environment for PXE boot up.  When I boot them currently I'm getting the retry error.  If somebody has had any luck adding any of the drivers below I'd truly appreciate it if you could give me a step by step guide to get this done.  I'm not an Altiris expert so any help you guys can provide is truly appreciated.

I had the same issue with the T440P (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/winpe-40-lenovo-t440p-driver). I never got this working, and eventually just used DOS to image them. I tried many, many different drivers without any luck.

My original post doesn't seem to have worked on here, but I did get it working with 7.1, but it takes some hacking.

We have T440S, the only way I could get it to work was upgrading to WinPE 2.2, which 7.1 normally comes with 2.0 I believe. Also we are running 64bit WinPE using network driver: Intel Pro 1000

    NDIS62 - e1c62x64.inf, e1d62x64.inf, and e1k62x64.inf

    NDIS63 - e1c63x64.inf, e1d63x64.inf, and e1k63x64.inf

Second problem you will have will be Ghost will crash if you are using the SSD T440 Model. I had to upgrade Ghost to version: Ghost 12.0.0.4573

Both of these are probably not supported by Symantec and I believe would be resolved by updating to 7.5, which includes the newer WinPE and Ghost

Actualy, you can upgrade to PE 3.1 which Symantec will support.  It's a bit messy, but it works very well.

I would recommend an upgrade to PE 3.1, making sure you have all the current versions of the driver related utilities (which should come with that upgrade) and try importing the drivers again.

Also, I would strongly recommend a review of the upgrade to 7.5.  The product has SEVERAL useful advantage for new hardware that are worth having, not to mention much easier troubleshooting and better performance.

As for those particular models, I have not personaly tested them.  Sorry.  I just know that the upgraded versions of PE help a lot.
