  • 1.  Altiris Client Management Suite 7.1 - Product is not properly configured

    Hi all,

    I was in my Altiris Serever checking the updates in the SIM, and I noticed that suddenly some of the installed products have a message saying "Product is not properly configured".

    These products are:

    - Altiris Client Management Suite 7.1 SP1b

    - Altiris Deployment Solution Complete Suite 7.1 SP1a MR1

    - Altiris Deployment Solution Core 7.1 SP1 MR1

    - Altiris Deployment Solution with Winpe Support 7.1 SP1 MR1

     

    I tryied to reconfigure every one of them but I always received a message saying that the installation failed. So, my question is:

    * What happpen with the Agents if I uninstall the every of the faulty products (remember one of them is Altiris Client Management Suite)? will the agents be uninstalled as well? This is a production environment so I want this process to be as safe as possible?

    * Is there any other way to fix this faults?

    Hi dialcabar,

    my first recommendation would be: contact enterprise support.

    However it is interesting. Since you discovered it by chance and not by troubleshooting, I reckon that everything still works fine?

    What error do you get from reconfiguring via SIM? Are you doing the reconfiguration with the credentials of the application identity?

    Hi Sebaha, thanks for your reply.

    Actually, not everthing is working fine. I haven't been able to make Deployment Solution work and I posted another forum for that https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/deployment-solution-reboot-folder-automation.

    Please see the image below for the errors I'm getting after trying to reconfigure:

    I'm not sure how I can change the credentials to run the reconfiguration, but I'm logged  as System Administrator.

    When you install the Symantec Management Platform an any solution based on that you first need to create a specific accout called application identitiy. You install the platform with that account and you need to be looged in as that account when you do something in Symantec Installation Manager. Is has alway to be the same account. You can look up what account it is, by looking what credetials your altiris service is started with.

    At this point I would really recomment to contact enterprise support just to be on the safe side.

    However, the next thing I would do is a backup of my database and Management Platform Server. Then I would try to repair the Client Management Suite.
