How would I create an inventory scan job to look for a particular file in a drive? And report on what machine has the file?

    thanks

A custom inventory is one way to do ths: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO10487

You could then write a custom report using the table created for the custom inventory.

Another way to do this might be creating new Inventory Policy and selecting File properties inventory to gather. There (under "Advanced" button and "File Properties Scan Settings" tab)  you need only to modify Drives, Folder and Files to be scanned to match your file path and name, and no scripting at all.

    Hi Sdedg

Here is a nice Howto with screeeshots:

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO84131

instead of the default Audit Software Search Report you may want to use the distinct select available here:

     Cheers
