  • 1.  Altiris patching for browsers installed in user profiles

I was wondering how Altiris handles patching of browsers people installed without admin rights.  When Chrome or firefox get installed in the user's profile.  Does anyone have an answer for me?

We block the installing of browsers thru application metering policies. If a user needs a browser installed outside of our default two browsers they need to request it and it is pushed to thier machine from Altiris. We have also created a job that looks for installs of browsers to the local profile and uninstalls them. With this in place we have been able to keep a more up to date environment.

We use GPOs/applocker to block launching of applications from local user folder, so it's a non issue here, too.

I don't believe that is an option for us.  I was hoping someone from Symantec would give some sort of answer.
