    After testing several Oracle installation packages, once successful, I deleted the assigned pcs from the task/job.

    However, the task/job is repeatedly sent to the pc again after I have removed (deleted) the task/job package(source files).  I have deleted from a few pc and each time the package comes back to them. The content is sent, but not installed. How do I stop having the source files being resent?

    Was this a run once task or scheduled on a repeat? or was it a policy and the computer is in a filter/target assigned to that?

    It was run once.  No policy, filters or target lists.   Went back several times and looked at the job assignement, deleted the pcs from the assignment. On the pcs, deleted the folder of install files and shortly after, it returns.

    Strange situation.

    SRJaeger, could you please open "Resource Manager" via mouse right click on affected managed client computer from SMP Console, then click on "View" -> "Calendar" -> make sure that there is no any package delivery, quick delivery, client job with delivery task are available regarding this Oracle package

    From "Resource Manager" page of affected client computer, click on "Home" -> "Job and Task Status" to see which Jobs/Tasks were executed, when and how often.

    You can set to delete package immediatelly if unused from 'Advanced" settings of "Package Delivery", "Quick Delivery" tasks

    Thanks,

    IP.

    Thank you- There is nothing on the calendar indicating a task job is being sent to the pc.  On the Home>Task and Jobs list there are Completed and Failed items, but none of them are the Oracle package that is being copied down.

    Prior to leaving work yesterday, I again deleted the package and it uis back again this am .

    I do not think this should make a difference but- We were having issues quite some time ago with Oracle 11G being installed from the defualt path  for Altiris Software packages (C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\SoftwareManagement\Software Delivery).  We then built the package to deliver the content to C:\ and install from there with executing a .bat file..  It is this folder of 'content' that keeps coming back. Altiris is not trying to execute  the .bat files however, just copying the files.

    This issue had occured again, quite some time ago, when we were first building Oracle 11G packages. I needed to rebuild the Oracle 11G packages and test them, and now, the same issue of repeated copying of the source files is occuring.  It is also occuring with Oracle 10 so it is not an anomaly with Oracle 11G

    Thanks

    1. Could you please check current assigned policies for this affected client machine, from "Resource Manager" page -> "Summaries" -> "Policy Summaries"  == Is there known policies which may be related to Oracle software delivery?

    2. Please collect/check SMA Logs to identify what exactly triggers it to start compliance and it checks that no packages and starts downloading them back.

    • C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Agent\Logs\

    Good to have trace/verbose logging enabled on client side for SMA and increase amount of logs and their size to avoid rotation.

    Below example of reg keys to have trace/verbose enabled, SMA log size = 1mb and SMA logs amount 20 to store

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Event Logging\LogFile]
    "FilePath"="C:\\ProgramData\\Symantec\\Symantec Agent\\Logs"
    "FileName"="Agent.log"
    "Severity"=dword:0000003f
    "MaxSize"=dword:00000400
    "MaxFiles"=dword:00000014

    You can use these command line, just create a "Run Script" task in SMP Console and execute it to change SMA logging/logs settings on clients.

    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Event Logging\LogFile" /v MaxSize /t REG_DWORD /d 1024 /f

    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Event Logging\LogFile" /v MaxFiles /t REG_DWORD /d 20 /f

    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Event Logging\LogFile" /v Severity /t REG_DWORD /d 31 /f

    Thanks,

    IP.

    "Quick Delivery" task by default will remove downloaded package after 7 days.

    10080 hours = 7 days in XML of Quick Delivery task

    Please check task instance(s) status of your Oracle "Quick Delivery" task (are they all completed 'success/failed' or there uncompleted instances and some of instances still has this affected client computer so suspect that after SMA restart it checks C:\Program Files\Altiris Agent\Agents\SoftwareManagement\Software Delivery\AeXSWDPolicy.xml and see that it wasn't downloaded completely and starts downloading ?)

    Maybe try to delete task instances of Quick Delivery task and check whether after SMA restart it still will download this package back again.
