Antivirus for Ubuntu Thin Clients

We are currently running Symantec EndPoint on an Ubuntu server.  That server also provides pxeboot images to 12 thin clients via tftp.  Each client mounts the same nfs share from the server on "/".

My concerns - If I install antivirus on the clients (they all share the same image) will the multiple instances of antivirus conflict?  Also, how will the antivirus behave when a remote client modifies files?  I tried to avoid this potential collision by mounting the nfs share read-only but that caused the pxeboot to fail.

What products and configuration would best support our system?
