  • 1.  Is anyone actually using DS 7.1 to deploy images right now?

I am wondering, since I haven't actually seen anyone admit to this anywhere on the internet. Do you currently use Altiris 7.1 to image PCs in a (working test) or a production enviroment?

I haven't had much luck with Altiris 7 so far, due to PXE identification issues. The WinPE is creating it's own minint-sdsd objects instead of using the same computer object that the production agent uses, breaking it.

I was wondering first if anyone is actually using Altiris 7.1 to image, and second, how have they overcome the issues with PXE identification and imaging tasks?

    Hi there,

We are trying to use DS 7.1 but also have no luck. We are able to capture images with easy, but deploying them is a different story.
It asks us for the Product key everytime, even though it is added to the job... clueless.

I know AndyDrew, a Symantec employee and user on this forum said that he got it working...

Symantec told me that sysprep injection is just not supported in this version in the Deploy Image task, only the Scripted Install task. So basically it makes you enter a product key and sysprep file to create the job, then won't do anything with them...

I'm not sure why they told you that, considering I have sysprep working fine for DS7.1
