  • 1.  Is anyone running SAV for NAS 5.2 as a VM?

Is anyone running SAV for NAS as VM's? Are there any performance issues with this? Does it affect the other guest VMs on the host? I have 4 netapp filers and would rather not deploy 4 physical AV servers.

SAV for NAS runs fine under a VM.
It can be deployed on 64-bit OS but it runs in 32-bit emulated mode and therefore can't really address more than 2-4GB of ram.
A single SAV for NAS box can scan files at the rate of 18-20MB/s so performance will depend on your NAS and file scanning policies.

Are you going to scan all files?
Are you going to scan just executables?

User profiles are notorious for hampering performance and need to be treated with care if the NAS is full of them.

I am going to use scan engine for NetApp filers as well. Did you configure it to scan all extensions or just executables? How about user profile directories?

zer0, thanks so much for your response. Our user profile directories are on the filers as well so I might have to scan them. Since SEP does not scan network drives, I don't know if i have another option.

I was planning on scanning executables. The default extensions NetApp scans.
