Using Symantec Endpoint Encryption 8.2.1 on a newer machine with an OPAL 2.0 drive. We had some difficulties getting the encryption software to install succesfully. So we decided to uninstall since we had success with version 11 on an identical machine. We uninstalled the software (or so we thought), then did a windows recovery to put the previous image on the machine (pre encryption software). The recovery appeared successful, until the machined was powered down and back up.

Upon first glance it appears as the boot partitions still contained some of the SEE components but obviously not the required, as we get the message that comes up before the Symantect authentication screen comes up on a working installation. But the system is just stuck there. The bigger problem, is not the disk suck in read only, we're not looking to recover data or anything like that. We're trying to clear the disk so we can move forward with S.E.E. 11 .

    Hello,

You shoud use PSID revert tool from disk manufacturer (for example SANdisk) that will wipe out drive, but you will be able to use it - now it is locked and you can not use it, right?

It seems that there is an issue with SEE when you decrypt drive from SEE client, it does not update drive status and if you use drive tool to check drive/disk state you will see that it is still encrypted. We have case opened for very similar issue (Case # 11774851) and still no solution.

If you do not care for data on that drive, easy way is to use PSID revert tool and wipe/reset it to be able to use it (you will need to reinstall everything after that and you will lose ALL data on it!).

    Regards,
