  • 1.  Auto-protect continuously finds and deletes 'Downloader' in Quarantine

    Posted Dec 22, 2011 08:34 PM

This problem just began occuring last night - I'm not sure what prompted it. I've looked through the forums and found similar problems, but nothing that provides a viable solution for me. I've tried deleting the .tmp files that are being generated and scanned, but for some reason, I'm being told that I don't have permission to do so (I'm on Vista Home Premium 32 bit as Admin). I've also tried excluding the Quarantine folder, but Auto-Protect is still generating and scanning the .tmp files.

If anyone can point me towards a fix for this problem, I'd be grateful. I'm running Symantec AntiVirus 10.2.0.276 - if you need any additional information, please let me know.

This is a known issue that was addressed in Symanec Endpoint Protection 11 Release Update 6 Maintenance Patch 1 (RU6 MP1). SAV 10.2.0.276 is an older product that lacks many of the new features to protect systems from modern day threats.

SEP 12.1 is the latest Endpoint Protection product available.

Please ring Symantec Support for us to fully assess your issue.

What Thomas K is thinking might not happen to you. ( dwh*.tmp being detected in %temp% folder ).

Alternatively if you are seeing DWH*.tmp detected after a scan or after new definition update, then please update to the latest release of Symantec AV.
