  • 1.  Auto Protect Keeps Disabling

    Posted Apr 15, 2009 01:20 PM

Each PC we are running has the Norton Client Full Version 10.1.5.5000.  Each PC is Managed. We are getting a Bunch of PCs that Auto Protect is disabling itself. When you try to Right click on the Icon to re-enable it. The Feature is Grayed-out.  We tried unistalling the program and Re-install it. It fixes it for about 2 wks, and then it goes and disables again.  Anyone else Run into this Problem?

    Thanks

What happens when you change the registry key value "OnOff" to 1 under  "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\Storages\Filesystem\RealTimeScan" ?

Does it stay enabled or disables itself again?
Can also possibly be a trojan. Not a big deal.
Can also be corrupt visud defs.

I checked the Registry Keys, and they are Set to 1

I agree with zcmonde and feel that either the defs are broken or that some sort of malware is affecting SAV.  Reinstalling generally indicates that something was working fine and then was broke after the fact.  Can you call in to support and ask for Rx4Defs or go over how to identify if you have a infection on one of these systems?

I saw the same behaviour in a SEP 10 client, and it solved when I updated the computer with  the latest Microsoft patches.
i do not know if it is the same and I only saw it on one computer.
