Please correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn't Basic Inventory in NS 6 push up the Operating system version?

I thought it would, but it is not working on some new Dell hardware we recently received.

    Thanks for your help.

Basic inventory includes OS name.  It should populate these tables:

    • AeX AC Client Agent
    • AeX AC Client Connectivity
    • AeX AC Discovery
    • AeX AC Identification
    • AeX AC Location
    • AeX AC NT Services
    • AeX Primary User
    • AeX AC Roles
    • AeX AC TCPIP

So it should be reporting.  Are you using the latest NS6 release?  Are the systems in question 64-bit?  Is OS Name the only missing data, and all of the rest of the data (above) is reported?  Even resource discovery should return OS Name, so that's odd.

You probally already did this but just in case, take a look at the log file (enable trace just to cover your bases) for the agent. You can use the log viewer from the server to read the log files.

I would also setup the agent to save the NSE files that it uploads to the server to make sure the data is being included in the NSE.
