I need to recover my netbook from ghost backup file which has no cd/dvd drive. So I must boot it by using a usb stick.

I read some topics about that but didn't help me. I am using "Norton Ghost 14" in CD. Someone is telling that there is an option in "Ghost Boot Wizard" which makes usb sticks bootable ghost drives, but I couldn't find any extentsion in Norton Ghost 14 like Ghost Boot Wizard.

Can anyone help me about this? Is there any problem with the version that I have or is there any other way to make this bootable stick easier and recover my netbook computer?

    damlays,

Norton Ghost 14 indeed does not have the Ghost Boot Wizard; that is a part of the Ghost Solution Suite, the corporate/enterprise version of the Ghost. My best recommendation would be to use a USB-attached CD or DVD drive. If you don't have one, see if a friend does. If not, a quick Google search for me revealed a that most external DVD-RW drives start at around $50, though I imagaine that at a local computer shop you may be able to find an external CD-RW drive for less, maybe even a used one dirt cheap.

    Good luck,

    Randy

    1. There is a utility which you can download from HP which can format a USB stick as bootable to DOS, but you need access to the DOS boot files, so ideally an XP formatted floppy image (which you can also download as there are bootable floppy images on the net for most old windows operating systems).

    2. Create a USB key which boots to WinPE - this has native support for SATA and is a much better all round solution for your kind of problem. Look in the Articles tab on Connect, and search for "Adventures in WinPE" which has the full instructions for creating bootable CDs, USB sticks, USB Hard drives - the latter being most useful as you can then copy off the entire hard disk if you need a backup.
