    Hi,

we recently changed mail servers from a "shared" IP to a dedicated IP for our domain about 3 weeks ago.

Since this move, we have been blacklisted by Brightmail Filters & www.messagelabs.com/support.

SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
        host cluster6.us.messagelabs.com [216.82.254.19]:
501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7] 9606, please visit www.messagelabs.com/support for more details about this error message.

SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM: SIZE=5986:
host mx3.hotmail.com [65.54.188.110]: 550 OU-002 (BAY0-MC3-F23) Unfortunately, messages from X.X.X.X weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors.

Microsoft (hotmail/live/outlook) have kindly removed this block from their filters and noted that we were being blocked based on the the recommendations of Symantec's Brightmail filters.

However the message labs filters remain in place. I've attempted to arrange other IT Support people to contact Message Labs on our behalf (big companies) but they have had no luck either.

We are a small company and do not SPAM, probably send about 150 emails a week (amongst 10 staff) but have been wrongly blocked.

    Any help would be appreicted.

    regards,
    James

Yes please share how you got this fixed,  I have been struggling with Symantec for months to resolve this,  Io am a small hosting company and have several clients who have trouble emailing customers who use Symantec users and get this following message.

    • "Reason: Remote host said: 501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7] 6309,
    • please visit www.messagelabs.com/support for more details about this error
    • message."

I have tried Symantec Facebook, Email, Phone support with no luck,  since I am not their customer they will not talk to me,  I have had my customers contact their customers to ask them to contact Symantec and the problem continues.

Symantec won't tell me why I am blocked and the only thing I have found is over 4 years ago a spammer had my IP address, but I was able to clear this up everywhere else.

Been very frustrating and has alienated me from using or referring anyone to Symantec products at ALL

I have had this happen repeatedly.
    I always go to http://www.symantec.com/security_response/landing/spam/

Once there, enter the ip address in question.

If it comes up as 'bad' then click the investigate link to the right.

There yoiu can enter your ip and check this is not an uncompromised mail server.

I have to do this all too often and have no way of knowing why and have no evidence of spam and am not on other blocklists it is hight frustrating and Symantec should fix it.

I am not holding my breath. I hope this helps someone.
