Getting BSOD after installing SEP RU7 version. BSOD with reference to sysplant.sys. Error code : 0x0000008e

Issue occurs in just one laptop .OS - Windows 7 32 bit SP1.

Installed SEP as managed client. This is the first time i'm installing SEP in that laptop. This is the first time installing security software.

Disabled windows firewall and windows defender .Ran cleanwipe tool. Reinstalled SEP.

After removing IPS  policy from SEPM no BSOD error. I would like to use IPS policy without BSOD error.

    Any suggestion. Thanks

Is this machine a 64 bit machine ?

Sysplant.sys is a driver that belong to application and device control.

Hence, I would suggest you to remove application and device control policy and then restart the machine to check if you recieve the BSOD>

This seems to be a know issue with Windows 64 bit machine and windows server 200 R2 64 bit machine with applicaation and device control  have been reported this issue. We should be seeing this as a bug soon from Symantec.

Please mark thumbs up or resolved if this is helpful .

You say "This is the first time installing security software". Is this system new out of the box? If not, I would recommend running a scan with the Power Eraser utility. See if this system is carrying any threats. I have seen cases where a system is infected, and a BSOD occurs when installing an AV product for the first time.
